Freeman Electronic Edition: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

By Hays Goodman - Webmaster

October 25, 2005

I subscribed successfully to your Freeman A.M. Electronic Edition, but I'm not getting an email in the morning telling me it's ready.

Some email providers are blocking these automatic e-mails coming from us, thinking they are bulk 'spam' mail because they go out in rapid sequence.

The email providers that we seem to be blocked from are Roadrunner (.rr) and Hotmail. If you have one of these email providers, you may wish to establish your email (for this feature) as a Yahoo account, or a business account, to assure that the email gets through. Yahoo appears to let all mail through, but MAY automatically route it to a 'spam folder,' so you will want to check for this.

Remember, you can always log-in to your account to check for a new edition by going to www.freemanol.com and clicking on the link. New editions are posted by 6:00 A.M.

The system doesn't seem to be accepting my last name or address. What's wrong?

The vast majority of users are able to easily sign up and use the system. A small percentage of addresses might cause trouble due to their length, or there might be a slight spelling error in our system that keeps track of your subscription. If you have trouble, just send an email to webmaster@conleynet.com. Please include the home address and name your paper is delivered to, and we will work to resolve the issue quickly to assure that your E-Edition works correctly.

How much does the E-Edition cost and how do I get it?

You have two choices:

1.) Sign up for The Freeman in print for as little as $8.95/month, and your Electronic Edition is included in that price.

2.) You can also choose to sign up for the E-Edition ONLY for $6.95/month.

GO HERE to sign up for either option.

What is the difference between 'newspaper view' and 'quick view' when I'm viewing an article from the E-Edition?

When you click on an article to expand it, it will normally expand in 'quick view' mode. This downloads faster, and creates HTML text from the text in the original article. In some cases, however, story graphics and tables will not translate accurately into this format. In this case, first open the story, then select 'newspaper view' from the top 'view' menu. Now you will get a version of the story that will appear as a graphic picture, which will look exactly like the version in the paper, including all graphics.

If you have a high-speed connection, you may enjoy using 'newspaper view' more frequently, as it tends to preserve the 'look and feel' of the newspaper article more accurately. You can switch back and forth between modes at any time you like by selecting under the 'view' menu.
