Donald H. Hoerres, 81, of Midlothian, Texas, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at his home. He was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Milwaukee, to Henry and Ruth (nee Hess) Hoerres.

Donald served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a motor machinist mate in the South Pacific. He married Patricia Lange on Sept. 30, 1950, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He was a police officer in Milwaukee and then retired in 1991 from Wisconsin Coach Lines after 18 years of service. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waxahachie, Texas, and had a lifelong love of trains and model railroading.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia Hoerres of Midlothian; children, Kathryn (Mike) Donahoe of Rowlett, Texas, Geralyn (Steve) Engelhardt of Paris, Texas, David Hoerres of Waukesha, Donna Clark of Milwaukee and Michael (Lynn) Hoerres of Bethlehem, Pa.; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Joan (Norbie) Steger of Aurora, Colo.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Louise Lange of New Berlin; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home, 511 W. Main St., Waxahachie, Texas, with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary service. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waxahachie, with the Rev. Michael Guadagnoli celebrating. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
