University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh senior Willy Kaul from Menomonee Falls claimed the individual crown in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's meet, finishing with a time of 24:15.84 to surpass 98 competitors on the 8,000-meter course. He is the fifth Titan to win the conference meet. UW-Stevens Point totaled 52 points to outdistance UW-Oshkosh's second-place total of 55 points with senior Cory Towle from Waukesha South leading the way with a second-place finish in 24:37:16. Towle was a first-team all-conference selection and was named to the league's all-sportsmanship team along with Kaul and UW-Whitewater sophomore Jon Fink from Muskego. The three-point victory is the closest margin at the championship since UW-La Crosse outscored the Titans 34-37 at 2001 meet. UW-La Crosse junior Paul Moran from New Berlin also placed 14th in the meet with a 25:16.15 time. UW-Madison senior Gwen Jorgensen from Waukesha South finished second in the Big 10 Conference meet at Ann Arbor, Mich., with a time of 20:27.6. The All-American helped the Badgers finish second, just four points behind Minnesota. Freshman Alyssa Beste from Waukesha West was 63rd (22:42.7) and senior Karlye Wolff from West also placed 66th in 22:49.6 for the Badgers, who are ranked No. 16 in the nation. UW-Eau Claire sophomore Molly Woodford from Waukesha South placed 12th in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference meet with a 22:33.52 time, was a second-team all-league selection and was named to the all-sportsmanship team. Football North Central senior punter Adam Pucylowski from Catholic Memorial was honored as one of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Players of the Week for the third time in the 2008 season. Pucylowski, the CCIW's only three-time special teams honoree, received his latest accolades following his performance in the Cardinals' 30-7 victory over Illinois Wesleyan in which he punted six times for a 43.7 average, and pinned the Titans inside their own 20-yard line four times. Pucylowski is the CCIW's leading punter this season, with a 41.3 average. North Central is ranked No. 2 in Division III by D3football.com. Carroll senior linebacker Jeremy Winter from Madison East recorded nine tackles, including two quarterback sacks, to lead Carroll to a 34-14 victory over Lawrence and was named the Midwest Conference's Player of the Week on defense. Winter gave Carroll a 7-0 lead when he returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown. He also forced a fumble and had one pass breakup that led a defense that held Lawrence to minus-58 yards rushing. Ripon senior defensive back Joshua Kraemer from Waukesha West put an exclamation mark on Ripon's 50-7 victory over Grinnell last weekend, returning a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown with a little more than one minute left in the game and has been honored as the Midwest Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week. His return was the second-longest in Ripon history and gives him two kickoff returns for touchdowns in his career. He returned two kicks against Grinnell for 114 yards and returned three punts for 77 yards. UW-Oshkosh senior free safety Jon DeVillers from Menomonee Falls and UW-River Falls junior free safety Ben Arata from Menomonee Falls were nominated for Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors on defense. Soccer Two Waukesha County high school graduates attending St. Norbert College have been named to the 2008 College Division Academic All-District V men's and women's soccer teams as sponsored by the College Sports Information Directors of America and ESPN The Magazine. The players are senior midfielders John Cremer and Rachelle Barina from Catholic Memorial. Cremer has a 3.98 grade-point average majoring in business administration. He played in 15 games this season, scoring five goals and three assists for 13 points. Barina possesses a 4.0 grade-point average majoring in religious studies. She scored five goals and eight assists for 18 points in 18 games this season. Volleyball Valparaiso junior Kim Bukowski from Waukesha helped her team gain three-set victories over Youngstown State and Cleveland State and has been named the Horizon League's Player of the Week. The setter ranked second in the league with 12.67 assists per set last week. Bukowski, who went over 2,000 career assists against Cleveland State, has directed Valparaiso's offense to a No. 1 national ranking for both kills per set (15.19) and assists per set (14.12) this season.
