UW-Waukesha women rout Marinette
MARINETTE - Freshman guard Amanda Rice from Cudahy, freshman forward Kelly Sargent from Waukesha and Leah Euper from Milwaukee Lutheran each scored 14 points as the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha women's basketball team defeated UW-Marinette 90-25 in a Wisconsin Collegiate Conference opener Saturday. The Cougars, 2-0 overall, outscored UW-Marinette 59-10 in the first half. Freshman guards Alexis Schultz from Clintonville and Sara Will from Mukwonago each added 10 points. UW-Waukesha scored 33 points off turnovers. UW-Waukesha men's team falls 79-78 MARINETTE - Sophomore guard Wes Brown from Waukesha South scored 18 of his team-high 29 points in the second half, but the UW-Waukesha men lost to UW-Marinette 79-78 in a WCC opener Saturday. Sophomore forward David Rogers from Waukesha West followed with 21 points for the Cougars, 1-1 overall. Freshman forward Aaron Miller from Arrowhead added 12 points and eight rebounds. Gabrielsen stars, but UW volleyball team falls MADISON - Despite several career-high performances, the University of Wisconsin volleyball team fell in four sets at 20th-ranked Michigan 18-25, 28-26, 28-26, 25-19 Saturday. Janelle Gabrielsen from Menomonee Falls became only the third UW player in school history to record a triple double, and the first since 1988. Gabrielsen, a freshman setter/outside hitter, had a career-high 13 kills and added 15 assists and 10 digs. She also led the Badgers with a .429 hitting percentage and added four blocks. Gabrielsen was one of two UW players to record double-digit kills in the match. The Badgers were led by Brittney Dolgner with 16 kills. Caity DuPont from Muskego added nine kills and Audra Jeffers from Arrowhead had eight. Jeffers led all blockers with eight.
