Schultz, Yancey lead UWW women to victory
WAUKESHA - The University of Wisconsin-Waukesha wo-men's basketball team defeated the University of Wisconsin Richland Center 60-41 on Wednesday. UWW jumped out to an early 17-1 lead, and its largest margin was at 27 points. Alexis Schultz and DeAndra Yancey led the Cougars, 2-0 in conference and 3-0 overall, with 12 points apiece, while Alyssa Jensen, Amanda Rice and Leah Euper each added 10 points. Schultz added six assists and Yancey had five steals. "This might be the most balanced team that I have seen during my time here," UWW coach Jack Hervert said. The Cougars held Richland Center to 21 percent shooting. KM's Shepherd signs with Minnesota WALES - Kettle Moraine High School senior Jackie Shepherd has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Minnesota on a golf scholarship. Shepherd, a first-team all-state selection and the Classic 8 Conference's Player of the Year, led all Waukesha County players in the WIAA state tournament with a third-place finish - just one stroke out of first. Beres to sign with UW-Green Bay NEW BERLIN - New Berlin Eisenhower High School senior Lauren Beres is scheduled to sign a national letter of intent to attend the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on a softball scholarship today. Beres, an honorable-mention all-state pitcher, helped her Eisenhower team claim the WIAA state title last spring. Two Muskego football players named all-league MUSKEGO - Two Muskego High School football players made the 2008 all-Southeast Conference team. The two are senior offensive lineman Jake Holterman and senior punter Jerred Gruettner. On the North Division team from Muskego are senior offensive lineman Dusty Hansen, junior defensive lineman Alex Kehoe, Gruettner at linebacker and senior defensive back Alex Roy. * * * Dan Riess and Sam Benson of Muskego received honorable mention on the 2008 all-Southeast Conference boys volleyball team.
