Athlete to Watch: senior 5-foot-11 forward Amy Slesar, a four-year starter who averaged 13.8 points per game with 6.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists; senior guard Lauren Wehking (5-9), a three-year starter and second-team all-conference selection who averaged 5.8 ppg. with 3.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists

Other Returning Letterwinners: senior forward Dianna DelToro (6-foot), senior guard Sam Monahan (5-6), senior guard Maria Reuter (5-6), senior forward Krystal Sterling (5-8); junior guard Shannon Kalamarz (5-7), junior guard Hannah Frett (5-9) and junior forward Holly Vogelsang (5-10)

Promising Newcomers: junior forward Bre Geipel (5-8), junior forward/center Hillary Geipel (5-10) and freshman guard/forward Jordyn Swan (5-9)

Key Graduation Losses: Janelle Groer, a first-team all-conference selection who averaged a team-best 14.7 ppg. with 7.6 rebounds and 3.2 steals; Lexi Panagopoulos, who averaged 6.9 ppg.

Outlook: "We have 10 returning letterwinners, including three starters, from a 19-2 team that won a conference championship," Hansen said. "We're looking for our eighth consecutive season of winning at least 15 games. With good depth and experience, we should be able to contend for the league title."

LAKE COUNTRY LUTHERAN

Girls Basketball

Coach: Janet Bahr, sixth season and 17th overall

Conference: Midwest Classic

2007-08: 8-6 in conference (fourth place)

Players to Watch: junior 5-foot-9 forward Emily Dufek, a first-team all-conference selection last season who averaged a league best 14.3 points; senior guard Chelle Schulte (5-9), a second-team all-conference selection who averaged 8.1 ppg and 2.0 rpg.

Other Returning Letterwinners: junior forward Emily Warnke (5-11) who averaged 6 ppg and 6.8 rpg; junior guard Rachel Kruk (5-6), who averaged 4.4 ppg; sophomore guard Sarah Lippert (5-7) and junior guard/forward Abby Luko (5-8)

Promising Newcomer: freshman guard Jamie Schnuck (5-2)

Outlook: "This year's conference is packed with talent and balance," Bahr said. "It should be a great season and we're looking forward to some tough conference games. We only lost two players to graduation so we have some experience returning. Our ability to play strong defense, get tough inside and limit the amount of turnovers will be big keys."
