Waukesha West swimmers nip Memorial

WAUKESHA - The Waukesha West girls swim team narrowly defeated Catholic Memorial 89-87 in a Classic 8 Conference dual meet Thursday.

West won the 400 freestyle relay and had three individuals take first place. They were sophomore Dana Gau in diving, junior Val Degiovanni in the 100 freestyle and sophomore Kayla Barr in the 500 freestyle.

CMH won the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay, and also had three individual swimmers win two events. Senior Elle Meinholz won the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, while freshman Anna Meinholz took first in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke. Junior Ashley Majewski won the 50 and 200 freestyle.

TOWN OF MERTON - Arrowhead set three pool records in its 112-71 victory over Waukesha South/Mukwonago in a Classic 8 Conference dual meet Thursday.

Sophomore Emma Goral swam a 55.5 in 100 butterfly and relay teams set the records in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle.

Other individual victories for Arrowhead came from freshman Haley Pietila in the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle, junior Mary Woodson in diving and junior Caryn Knight in the 100 breaststroke.

South/Mukwonago winners were Courtney Sheehan in the 200 and 500 freestyle, Arianna Gorenc in the 50 freestyle and Pamela Breitrick in the 100 backstroke.

WAUKESHA - Senior captain Jordon Momsen from Kettle Moraine won two events and was a member of two winning relay teams to lead the Waukesha North/Kettle Moraine girls swimming and diving team to a 143-38 victory over Milwaukee Pius in a Classic 8 Conference dual meet at North on Thursday.

Momsen won the 50- and 400-meter freestyles and was a key part of the first-place 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays for North/KM, which placed 1-2-3 in seven events.
